Garth Brooks Announces 2019 Stadium Tour- Hints at Gillette

BREAKING NEWS: Country megastar Garth Brooks announces a stadium tour that will start in 2019 and will stop at 30 stadiums- approximately 10-12 per year…

From Taste of Country:

Garth Brooks just announced his biggest tour ever. The Country Music Hall of Famer will tour stadiums in 2019.

During a press conference at the Country Music Hall of Fame on Wednesday (Oct. 17), Brooks revealed that the tour will begin in the spring at the Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis, Mo. He also indicated there will be 30 stadiums on his tour, with 10 to 12 per year.

The second venue will be State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. (Phoenix). Five shows will go on sale before Christmas 2018, and while Brooks couldn’t reveal the remaining three stops, he strongly insinuated he’ll be playing Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., and AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Yes, you read that right. He insinuated he’ll be playing at Gillette Stadium sometime during this tour. I mean, of course he is. His buddy Kenny Chesney probably told him how crazy the New England country music fans are- making it one of the must-play stadiums on the tour. It sounds like Mr. Kraft brought and his team to the stadium to pitch the notion of him playing at the home of the Patriots!

Garth says, “So this is gonna give one of the cities away for sure, but I want to thank the Kraft Family up in New England, with the Patriots. They were the ones who kind of flew us out to the stadium to see and really encouraged us to think about stadium shows.

Encouraged Garth to think about stadium shows? Soooo, Robert Kraft is the one responsible for this tour? Either way, Garth is coming to Foxborough in the future!

Mitchell Tenpenny Scores 1st Top 15 Single

In February of this year, Mitchell Tenpenny released his self-titled EP that included a song that I knew was going to be special called ‘Drunk Me.’ With the release of this EP, I was blown away by Mitchell’s unique vocals that really separate him from the pack in country music- there is no one that has a similar sound to Mitchell. I knew I wanted to have him play our festival this year and we were ultimately able to successfully confirm this as one of the performers. As the year progressed, I seemed to be hearing it all over the place. On the radio, on social media- I was even walking down Hampton Beach this summer and heard one of the bars on the strip playing it. It was announced late this past week that ‘Drunk Me’ was certified GOLD by the RIAA- a great accomplishment.

I’ve known that this song has been climbing the charts- at the festival, Mitchell thanked the crowd for making it his first top 40 single. But looking at the Mediabase charts this week, I was so incredibly happy to see ‘Drunk Me’ currently sitting at #15 on the country charts! And we don’t normally do this, but we’re asking y’all to call into your local stations and request this song to help Mitchell in having this phenomenal single continue to climb to the top of the charts.

Now since we don’t normally do this, why are we now? Because Mitchell deserves it.

For one, Mitchell’s talent is undeniable. His vocal ability is so unique so really captivating. Add that in with great songwriting and you have a recipe for a hit. Which is exactly what ‘Drunk Me’ is.

Secondly, I’ve had the pleasure of working with a ton of artists over the years but I can honestly say that Mitchell is one of the best artists of any of the artists that I’ve worked with here at NECM. Whether it be through the festival, at a show, or just an interview, Mitchell is the cream of the crop when it comes to being a good person. He’s extremely humble and polite and he is so appreciative of everyone that helps him along the way. I remember him thanking me for bringing him to the festival and a lot of artists say ‘thank you’ but you can tell that some really don’t mean it. Mitchell meant it. This dude just radiates pure sincerity. I can confidently say that Mitchell is one of the nicest people in country music.

And in case you didn’t know, Mitchell also does a ton of great work for others through his 10Penny Fund which was created by Mitchell from personal experience with a sincere desire to provide inspiration and support to cancer patients beyond traditional medical treatment. Determined to make change, the Fund invests in sustainable and meaningful programs that motivate patients, encourage healing, and build a community of support. You can donate to the fund here.

So again, please call into your local station and request Mitchell Tenpenny’s ‘Drunk Me.’ This song deserves to be at the top of the charts and so does Mitchell.

Abby Anderson: ‘I’m Good’ EP Review

It cannot be debated that Abby Anderson is an up-and-coming singer/songwriter that you should be paying attention to. With recognition from Pandora as a 2018 Country Artist to Watch, from CMT as a 2018 Next Woman of Country and as a Listen Up Artist “18 for 2018,” and from The Boot as a 2018 Artist to Watch the country music community has certainly taken note of her. Her debut EP, ‘I’m Good‘ was just released September 7th and contains 5 confident pop-country songs that touch on love and heartbreak. The 21-year-old Texas native is living up to our expectations with her bold sound and solid debut EP.

1.) ‘I’m Good’- Written by Abby Anderson, April Geesbreght, and Jason Massey.
Impression: The title song of this EP sets the tone with prominent base, a pop vibe, and a confident message. Abby is sure that she is better off without this guy in her life, no matter what tactics he tries to get her back. She makes it clear by responding, ‘I’m Good’ just as you would to any little offer you aren’t interested in.
Favorite Lyrics: No more feeling sorry for myself, our history books are on the shelf. What’s done is done. There’s nothing else to say.

2.) ‘Make Him Wait’- Written by Abby Anderson, Josh Kerr, and Tom Douglass.
Impression: ‘Make Him Wait’ slows things down to accompany its more serious tone. It touches on the popular advice to take things slow when dating someone new. A backdrop of piano complements vivid imagery of many milestones in a developing relationship. In the true fashion of country music, the song blends a moral message and with lyrics that tell a relatable story.
Favorite Lyrics: Walk slow, take your time, while your daddy cries and your momma smiles, when they’re throwing rice into the air, and those tin cans roll away.

3.) ‘This Feeling’- Written by Abby Anderson, Jesse Frasure, and Jimmy Robbins.
Impression: The feeling of falling for someone is the focus of ‘This Feeling.’ It perfectly describes the sensation that falling in love can change you as a person. She explains, This is uncharted territory, A whole new chapter in the story. The chorus showcases the power in her voice as Abby belts out, I’m not used to this feeling, I think I could get used to this feeling.
Favorite Lyrics: Doing things I don’t and I don’t understand how inhibitions turn to keys in the ignition, I’m driving fast and I’m not holding back.

4.) ‘Dance Away My Broken Heart’- Written by Ashley Gorley, Jesse Frasure, Kelsea Ballerini, Rhett Akins, and Thomas Rhett.
Impression: ‘Dance Away My Broken Heart’ fittingly sounds like a dance song. The lyrics incite the carefree courage you need to move on and get out again after a nasty breakup. A form of therapy, dancing helps her to shake off these scars as the first step in healing her heart.
Favorite Lyrics:
It’s a couple steps to the left, I forget how he left. Then move to the right, and it starts to feel alright again. Drop it low ’cause I ain’t feeling low no more.

5.) ‘Naked Truth’- Written by Abby Anderson, Jason Deere, and Kent Blazy.
Impression: The final track on the ‘I’m Good’ EP tells the complete story of finding out that your man has been sneaking around. A transformation occurs from the start of the song with an admission that she has been crying to the end describing a mountain top epiphany. Abby sings confidently that this man has no place in her life and that it is a win for her.
Favorite Lyrics: Wham Bam Instagram, She never shoulda posted that with my man.

Make sure to listen to and download the I’m Good EP and keep up with Abby Anderson on her Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Website. She currently has two shows scheduled in New England, opening for Brett Eldredge on his The Long Way Tour. Tickets are still available for the shows in Kingston, RI on October 11th and in Manchester, NH on October 13th.

Bobby Bones Kicks Off His Dancing Adventure With Long Odds

Dancing With The Stars‘ is one of the most popular competition shows on television with celebrities teaming up with dancing pros to compete for the coveted mirror ball trophy. On September 12th, it was announced that country music radio DJ Bobby Bones was one of the ‘stars’ who would be competing for the title. Other celebs include former NFL defensive player Demarcus Ware, Tinashe, Evanna Lynch and more. Bobby recently posted on his Instagram the odds for each celeb to win the competition and he is the long shot in the field at 20 to 1- well he has the same odds as John Schneider. But still, it appears the expectations for Bobby is low. Oddsmakers are expecting him to be out of the competition quickly.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bnr2OM1FPFc/?hl=en&taken-by=mrbobbybones

But not so fast, we think they may have it wrong here. First of all, I didn’t even know you could really gamble on these shows? I mean, who would actually put their hard earned money down on a bet on a dancing television show? And also, I am pretty sure I don’t live under a rock but I’ve never really hard of any of these other celebs outside of Demarcus Ware… But anyways, let’s get back to why we think the oddsmakers got it wrong with Bobby.

His radio show, the Bobby Bones Show, is a show played on nearly 160 radio stations across the country from 5-9AM (CST)- including across New England on stations like 101.7 The Bull, KIX 100.9, and Froggy 100.9. Bobby reaches over 9,000,000 every month on his radio show (look at the coverage map below) in addition to another 5,000,000 monthly downloads of his podcast. Seriously, this guy is a staple in 9,000,000+ peoples’ lives as they wake up, drive into work, etc. Again, I don’t really know the other contestants much but I don’t think that any of them are a part of 9,000,000+ people’s lives every month. And at the end of the day, this is a popularity contest with fans dialing into to specific phone lines to vote for their favorites… If Bobby even gets half of his radio listeners to dial in and vote for him, he’s going to be in good shape.

A couple more points…. Bobby has his own squad called the B-Team which are devout followers who appreciate Bobby as much as he appreciates them. He sells out venues across the country on his comedy tour and plays for capacity crowds for Raging Idiots shows. And if you think that the dozens of artists that Bobby has helped kickstart their careers by playing their music early on aren’t going to ask their followers to help Bobby, you’re dead wrong. I know it’s going to happen because that’s what the country community does for each other. Let’s also not forget about his 2 New York Times Bestselling books- to have that accomplishment, a lot of people have to buy your book.

I don’t know how far Bobby will go in ‘Dancing With The Stars,‘ but I got a feeling that he’s going to go a lot farther than what the oddsmakers are being putting him at. Knowing Bobby, he’s going to ‘Fight, Grind, Repeat,’ each week to prove everyone wrong and to make his mark on this show. If you find a place taking bets on DWTS with these odds, throw $20 on Bobby- you may end up making some money. Good luck Bobby!

Old Dominion Makes It Sweet At The Big E

If you’re driving through Springfield, MA in mid-late September, chances are you’re going to The Big E. One of the biggest fairs in the country. While most people go for the giant corndogs, turkey legs, grilled sausages and all the other outrageous food and drinks, it’s also one of the best places to see a concert as well. That was no different on this past Saturday, September 15th as Old Dominion played a SOLD OUT show.

With a backdrop of colorful carnival rides, including a giant swing that we stayed far away from, and steam and smoke coming from all the various food vendors, the band took the stage with ‘Song For Another Time’ and ‘Wrong Turns’ – lead singer Matthew Ramsey saying afterwards, “It’s a beautiful night. We sold this place out. Let’s make it a party!

Next on the setlist was ‘Beer Can In A Truck Bed,’ ‘Half Empty’ and ‘Be With Me’ before playing a brand new song that we expect will be on their next album, the song called ‘Smooth Sailing.’ They followed that up with ‘Written in the Sand,’ ‘Said Nobody’ and their huge single ‘Hotel Key’ which featured an extra verse that you don’t hear on the radio or album version. They only place this version live and we absolutely love it. You can find this version on Spotify, if you want to hear it! Before performing ‘Still Writing Songs About You,’ Matthew addressed the crowd again, saying, “We’ve been coming up to this part of the country for quite a few years… That’s right, Go Pats! We’re funs… it’s become really special!

The band followed that up with ‘Stars In The City,’ a song the features Little Big Town on the album, and ‘No Such Thing As A Broken Heart’ to which Matthew saying before, “One of the coolest things about playing this song is playing it in places like Gillette Stadium,. It turns into a big singing along. We missed that a Gillette this year.” After ‘Shoe Shopping’ and ‘Crazy Beautiful Sexy,’ the band played another new song called ‘Make It Sweet.’ And we can tell you one thing, this song is going to be a HIT! Look out for that song soon.

The night came to an end with performances of Kenny Chesney’s ‘Save It For A Rainy Day,’ a song that Matthew and Brad co-wrote, as well as ‘Not Everything’s About You’ and our favorite song to see Old Dominion perform live, ‘Can’t Get You.’ After a short break off stage, the band returned for an encore of their first Number One, ‘Break Up With Him’ and ‘Snapback.’

All in all, it was a great day and night at The Big E. Fans went home with their bellies full of fried food and Old Dominion gave them a sweet ending to their day with one helluva show.

Chase Rice: ‘Eyes on You’ Single Review

If you were recently at our fourth annual New England Country Music Festival at Cisco Brewers earlier this month you had the pleasure of hearing Chase Rice’s new single in person.  ‘Eyes on You’ is Chase’s most recent release to country radio off his most recent album, ‘Lambs & Lions.’ Just as expected, it proved to be a crowd favorite! And that translated to country radio as it was the most added song to country radio in the days after the festival.

Chase recently told Vevo that that although he has had songs about girls, this one dives a bit deeper since it’s based on a real experience.  The actual memory was in Hawaii but he explained that ‘regardless of the locations, if you look at the depth and the situation of this love story it’s one of the most special songs he’s put out to date.’

Cowritten with Ashley Glenn Gorley and Chris Destefano, Chase relives his journey, while sharing so many memories with a very special someone.  The message behind this romantic tale is sweet. Regardless of where the two of them have been, the Carolinas, London or California, there ain’t no better view than you in my arms with my eyes on you. While she remembers all of the scenic drives, sunsets and local booths, all he remembers is being with her. He compares her beauty to a Montana sky, New Years Eve in Times Square and even Paris.

Take a listen and hopefully you can share it with someone special.

Favorite Lyrics: Don’t you remember Times Square? And people counting down everywhere Two thousand whatever, no I didn’t care ‘Cause baby you were there

On a different note, if you’re anything like us at NECM, you must always be looking out for new tour merch. Chase’s Head Down, Eyes Up line has some pretty sweet gear. Have you ever noticed that hat he usually wears? The story behind the hat and his life motto is something special, check it out!

Garth Brooks: ‘All Day Long’ Single Review

Much to the delight of fans Garth Brooks recently released the lead single off of his upcoming album, which is due out next year. Co-written by Bryan Kennedy, Mitch Rossell, and Garth himself, ‘All Day Long’ is a party anthem that’s perfect for summer. This new tune is vintage Garth Brooks. It’s reminiscent of the 90’s hits that made him such a country music legend. From the opening guitar notes the listener is immediately hooked. The melody consists of a classic country twang blended with a hint of rock and roll. This, combined with the foot-stomping beat, adds to the fun nature of the song.

Brooks got inspiration for ‘All Day Long’ while performing at a honky-tonk in Nashville during the Country Radio Seminar this past February. In an interview on his weekly Facebook Live show, Inside Studio G, Garth described his feelings on stage that night. “We were playing all the stuff that we used to play in the honky-tonks, and hearing it bounce off those brick walls and hearing those people sing along, I said, ‘You know what? What we need is a good honky-tonk song.’ So that’s what we went to do.” And he certainly succeeded. ‘All Day Long’ gives us a glimpse of a honky-tonk on a Friday night. From start to finish, the descriptive lyrics portray the nightlife scene and having a good time. This is particularly evident in the lines, somebody’s gotta feed that jukebox, somebody’s gotta drink that beer, somebody’s gotta get all rowdy and raise some hell in here.

‘All Day Long’ is already well on its way to becoming another #1 hit for Brooks. It made a strong debut at #28 on the Mediabase chart and has been climbing ever since. In addition to this, during its release week ‘All Day Long’ was the most added song to country radio since August 2015. With this continued success we’re excited for a big year from Garth in 2019. Let’s hope we can get some New England tour dates to go along with the new album.

Unfortunately ‘All Day Long’ isn’t available for purchase. However, if you have Amazon Music you can stream it exclusively here.

Favorite Lyrics: Somebody’s gotta play that country that ain’t ever comin’ back. If home is where the heart is, then I’m right where I belong..

Everybody is Searching For a ‘Remedy,’ and Justin Fabus Has It

When most people think of Pittsburgh, PA, they don’t typically think of a city that breeds country artists – but Justin Fabus would disagree, and he’s out to prove the naysayers wrong. The Steel City native insists that it’s as country as they come. FIlled with hard-working, blue-collared folks, Pittsburgh is the perfect place to inspire some country tunes. Growing up, music was always very prominent in Justin’s life, and has remained so. Fabus believes it falls in line with those other basic human needs: water, food, sleep, etc. “Music is like air, without it I can’t breathe,” he said. Justin knew from a young age that he wanted to pursue a career in the industry. Now, with the recent release of his debut album, ‘Remedy,’ Fabus is ready to take his career to the next level.

We talked to Justin leading up to the June 22nd release. The self-proclaimed perfectionist was a bit nervous for the record’s debut, but more excited than anything else. “It’s the best music I’ve ever put out,” he said confidently. In addition to naturally evolving as an artist, Fabus has had the opportunity to share the stage with other incredible talents and learn things along the way. He also did things a little bit differently on ‘Remedy’ than with his previous music. For starters, he stepped out of his comfort zone to craft songs with writers, Joe Henry and Tony Lucca. Fabus also broke the norm and recorded the album in his hometown of Pittsburgh. “I recorded my second EP in Nashville and Illinois,” he explained. “The first couple of times, I had trouble sticking to my guns.” He knew this time around he wanted it to be different. Fabus was less passive and had a clear direction of where he saw the album going – this helped when choosing a producer to work with. Justin was open-minded, considering folks from Nashville to Los Angeles. He ultimately chose Pittsburgh’s Matt Very. “We were introduced by the luck of the draw and instantly hit it off,” he said. Of course sharing a hometown was appealing, but it wasn’t the deciding factor. Not only did Very truly understand Justin’s direction for the project, Fabus respected his work ethic and drive. “He built his studio from the ground up,” Fabus said, describing how their hard work paralleled each other.

Another non-traditional aspect of this album was using Justin’s live band in the recordings. While many artists opt for a studio band, it was important to Fabus to use his road guys on this record. “Again, I try not to do the norm,” he explained, a common theme throughout his career if you haven’t noticed. “I like being an outsider,” he insisted. Although using a studio band tends to make the recording process run more smoothly, it was crucial to Fabus to pick up those authentic vibes. “I wanted to capture the energy we feed off each other.” It helped Justin deliver a more genuine sound – what fans hear on the album is exactly what they’ll hear at a live performance.

Staying true to himself and his roots is very important to Fabus. “I take pride in keeping it real,” he exclaimed. “I’ve never wanted to sound like someone else. You can learn from [your influences] but I’ve always wanted my own sound.” Which, Justin admits, is ever-evolving. The one constant is the storytelling in Justin’s music, he assured it will always come from a personal place. The 13 songs on ‘Remedy’ are all true stories, which makes it that much more rewarding when fans reach out to him with stories and personal connections. “People have sent private messages and come up to me at shows with their own stories and interpretations,” said Fabus. The song that got one of the best responses live is the title track and debut single from the album, ‘Remedy.’ “Everybody is searching for a remedy… we’re all looking for a fix,” Justin said. The relatability of the song is one of the main reasons he released it first. Naturally Fabus hopes that fans will find something relatable about all of the songs on the record, but more specifically, he said his major goal for this album is to “write a song that is the soundtrack to someone’s life.” We all have at least one song that’s guaranteed to bring us back to a certain place or time. Fabus hopes that his songs can do that for someone too.

Since the album’s release, ‘Remedy’ has gotten rave reviews and landed a spot on the iTunes Top 200 Country Albums Chart. Fabus was also excited to embark on a 30-stop tour that will take him to some new markets he has never played before. Although there are currently no local stops, we can expect it’s only a matter of time until he makes his way up to our neck of the woods as Justin’s hard work and talent are sure to take his career far.

You can download and stream ‘Remedy’ here.

Listen to Haley and Michaels and Leave On A ‘High Note’

The couple behind the duo Haley and Michaels took time out of their busy schedule to chat about their current projects and past influences. In light of recent events, the musical pair released a song entitled, ‘Me Too.’ Shannon Haley stated that this song led to a “powerful response” from their fans. She went on to say that they received YouTube comments and direct messages from a number of people stating that their song helped in their healing journey. The influential song resonated with so many people and really put Haley and Michaels on the map. As popular as this song is, it is not their first taste of success. Haley and Michaels have had a lot of radio play from Sirius XM’s The Highway. Ryan Michaels spoke about their success on the popular radio station and said that, “it is gratifying and exciting to hear your song on a station that you’re a fan of.”

The married couple first connected over growing up in California and loving country music. Growing up in the 90’s, country music was not very popular in the West. Ryan’s musical influences are drawn from rock music such as U2 and Bon Jovi as well as some country/rock performers such as Keith Urban and Garth Brooks. The artists that have impacted Shannon range from Shania Twain to Bob Dylan to Sheryl Crow. The different influences of the couple have helped to shape their sound.  However, among all of their differences, Haley and Michaels have always “been fans of artists that write their own music.”

The duo has their first studio album set to be released this year. The couple who have been heavily influenced by song writing have written all of the songs on their album. “The songs are a part of who we are, our story and what makes us Haley and Michaels,” Shannon Haley said. She described a song on the album called ‘The Price I Pay.’ The song was one of the first songs they ever wrote years ago yet fits perfectly on the album. This song is “part of the new sound even though its an older song.” Another song on the album will be the pair’s newest single, ‘High Note.’ Describing the motivation behind the song, Ryan says it was written based upon a personal experience. At the end of a Pink Floyd concert, Ryan was getting ready to leave and he scanned the crowd as the classic rock anthem, ‘The Wall’ was filling the arena. Ryan looked out into the audience and saw thousands of cell phones and lighters in the air and immediately called Shannon. He told her he was “leaving on a high note” and she knew immediately that they had to write that song. Ryan, Shannon, Phil Barton and Zach Abent got together and ‘High Note’ just fell out onto the paper.  As the writers of the songs on their album, they have the vision of what they want the song to be.   Shannon and Ryan try to be involved in all elements of the song and album production. To keep their vision, parts of the songs in the final recording are actually created in the moment while writing the songs.

As a newer act, Haley and Michaels travel extensively trying to get their music heard all over the country. Ryan said that while touring he has “gotten comfortable living out of suitcases.” He stated, however, that it makes the world a little bit smaller. Shannon added that she agreed in that the “suitcase life is a real thing.” Both acknowledged that they “rely on Starbucks and Chipotle very heavily” living on the road. The pair are mapping out dates for the summer and fall shows and are in the process of planning out the rest of the year to promote their current single ‘High Note’ and upcoming album.  They do not have any New England dates booked yet, but will soon be heading out on radio tour!
