New England Native Timmy Brown Set To Release Debut EP

Massachusetts native, Timmy Brown, is chasing the country music dream and won’t stop until he makes it big. Music City captured his heart when Brown was just eight years old; he and his family made a stop in Nashville for his sister’s softball tournament, and Timmy fell in love at first sight. The country lifestyle was always in his roots – Brown grew up listening to country and going to race tracks with his dad, but experiencing places like Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge and The Grand Ole Opry really cemented his dream. Now the 24 year old is taking one more step toward making that dream a reality as he releases his debut EP, ‘Leave This Town.’

The New Englander returned to Nashville in 2015 where he worked with other songwriters and producer, Mike Franklin, to put the record together. It was an unforgettable experience for Timmy, who recorded the album at both Blackbird Studio and The Sound Emporium in Nashville. The singer worked with some publishing companies to get a few songs that he loves, but he also had the opportunity to co-write some of the songs on the record as well. Ultimately, Brown feels like the six tracks that made the EP are a good representation of who he is. “I kind of just went with what felt the most comfortable to me… what felt more like me rather than me trying to act like someone else,” Timmy said, describing how he chose songs for the EP. The record, he explained, has a lighthearted feeling overall, “A lot of the songs are fun and happy and positive.” Some of Brown’s personal favorite songs on the record include one that is very personal to him and another that’s just downright fun.

The singer has been impatiently waiting for everyone to finally hear his EP. When asked how he’s been feeling, he replied, “So anxious! I posted on my Instagram and Twitter the other day that I’ve never been so anxious in my life,” he said, “I’m dying for people to hear this!”  Brown has been counting down the days, but fortunately, the wait isn’t much longer. Timmy will be throwing an EP release party on Saturday, April 9th at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill in Foxborough, MA and everyone is invited. “It’s hosted by 101.7 The Bull. They’re going to be there also giving away Luke Bryan tickets to his show at Gillette this summer,” Brown explained. “We’re doing an all-ages event with a performance at 6:00 pm. So anyone can come – families, anyone that doesn’t want to stay out late,” Timmy said. From 7:00-9:30 there will be a DJ mixing country songs, games with 101.7, and the singer will be hanging out meeting fans. For those who prefer to go out after dark, Brown will be taking the stage again at 9:30 pm. However, just before his second performance, at 9:00, the venue will be strictly 21+ and the bar will begin charging it’s usual $5 cover at the door. “We’re playing the whole album and also some cover songs,” he said of both performances, “We’re going to have my merchandise table set up with all my albums and t-shirts and sweatshirts. I’ll be over there whenever I’m not on the stage.”

Currently, the only way to get your hands on a copy of Brown’s EP is to buy the physical album. “Right now, people can only buy the album at my shows or off of my website, timmybrownmusic.com, but it will be digitally available in a couple weeks on iTtunes, Spotify, etc.” Timmy’s plan is to digitally release music once he has a single picked out – and he’s hoping his fans will help him choose the right song. Prior to the public release party on Saturday, Brown is hosting a private listening party from 5:00-6:00 in the function room at TK’s. “We’re playing the MP3s and we’ll have a survey that people will vote on,” Timmy explained. Only 70 tickets were available for this exclusive pre-party, and it sold out quickly! Brown is expecting that once the single is chosen it will be available online within a few weeks.

Timmy already has much of his summer booked with shows up here in New England, “The biggest thing right now is to stay around here because I think it all starts with your local support,” he explained. He believes that being surrounded by the people who have been there since the start is the backbone of a successful career. But social media is a powerful thing these days, and content spreads quickly on the internet, so the singer hopes that his fans in the northeast will share his music with friends and family all over the country. Brown is planning to  take his music to a warmer climate as it starts to get chilly here, he explained, “In the fall I plan on going down to North Carolina, Nashville, Kentucky, that area, doing a little mini-tour then down to Florida to just kind of spread out my fan base,” he said. Performing on stage is practically second-nature for the Massachusetts native, “It feels like I’m supposed to be up there, the adrenaline, I could never speak in front of a thousand people but if I’m on stage performing, it’s totally natural to me… I feel like I’m just hanging out with people,” he described. So he’s looking forward to getting out there and sharing his original music with fans.

Brown has talent, determination, and most importantly, a passion for the genre. The country community is so connected and loyal – it’s like a big family, which is one of the reasons Timmy fell in love with it. His journey thus far has taught him to give it your all and never give up. ‘Leave This Town’ brings Brown one step closer to that childhood dream of country stardom. There’s nothing we love more than watching local talent succeed, so head on out to Toby Keith’s Saturday night and show your support as Timmy Brown continues to make New England proud!
