Luke Bryan: ‘Most People Are Good’ Single Review

On December 8th, 2017, Luke Bryan released his highly anticipated 6th studio album ‘What Makes You Country.’  Fans have waited since 2015’s Platinum selling album ‘Kill The Lights’ for a studio album and that wait is over. The second single off his new album, ‘Most People Are Good,’ has taken the spotlight in recent weeks and has already climbed to the top 30 on Billboards Country Airplay chart.

The song is a possible candidate to eventually become Luke’s 18th Number 1 single. So with so much success what makes ‘Most People Are Good’ special?

‘Most People Are Good’ starts and stays slow throughout and the rhythm only picks up around the chorus. This song veers away from Luke’s traditionally upbeat and happy tempo to help deliver the message. This isn’t the typical party track you would see from Luke and this is probably because Luke holds the ideas and themes in this song very close to his heart in some way. His voice is calm and collective throughout but also delivers the message beautifully. The beat moves along perfectly with the lyrics helping this song maintain its upbeat but slow and somewhat sad theme. This alone makes this song different but when you dig deeper into the lyrics you discover this song is truly special.

In the first few verses of ‘Most People Are Good’ – written by David Frasier, Ed Hill and Josh Kear-  it touches on the topic of childhood and how childhood has evolved to being in front of screens and spent indoors. It talks about how kids should be outside climbing trees, getting dirty, and having fun. In the next lines, it explains how we should learn to forgive others. It explains that we should forgive because cause nobody gets a second chance to make new old friends.

‘Most People Are Good’ also talks about how even though the world can look so bad, there is still good in people. Lyrics such as I believe this world ain’t half as bad as it looks could potentially be referring to all the recent tragedies and disasters that have been occurring. Although these incidents can make our world seem so bad, we must also not lose sight at all the good in life. People can cause tragedy and destruction, however this song does a good job bringing to light that most people in our world are good and we can’t lose sight of that fact.

Luke also sings about love, in the powerful lyrics I believe you love who you love,
Ain’t nothing you should ever be ashamed of. These lyrics convey the idea that you should  never be afraid of who or what you love and never be ashamed of yourself or your passions. It’s important to always let love win out. All of the lyrics and themes in this song show us why this song has already seen early success. People have been silently begging for a song with such a strong meaning and Luke truly delivered.

Favorite Lyrics: I believe that days go slow and years go fast. And every breath’s a gift, the first one to the last…
