Dear NFL, It’s Time To Go Country…

Dear NFL,

The Super Bowl halftime show is always one of the most-watched musical events of the year. And year after year you undoubtedly bring in the biggest names in music. Everyone from the late Michael Jackson and Prince to The Rolling Stones, U2, and Paul McCartney. You’ve even brought in some of today’s biggest stars like Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, and Lady Gaga this year. Some shows have been disappointments. Some have been incredibly entertaining. But it’s time to bring country music to the forefront of your Super Bowl halftime show. It’s been 23 years since you’ve had a country artist perform at the Super Bowl halftime show. It was Super Bowl XXVIII between the Dallas Cowboys and Buffalo Bills on January 30, 1994 at the Georgia Dome. Clint Black, Tanya Tucker, Travis Tritt, and the Judds performed.

23 years is a longtime. And quite the drought for country music in regards to the Super Bowl. This year would’ve been the perfect year for country music to make it’s return to the spectacle with the game being in Houston, Texas. As you begin your discussions for next year’s Super Bowl, it’s time to think country music. There are a few artists who have the ability to put on one helluva show which will appease the live and national television audiences. There are some artists who even headline at NFL stadiums across the country every summer. And quite frankly, country music is probably the hottest genre of music today.

If you’re looking for a particular artist, we have one for you. And hint, he was at this year’s Super Bowl. He was sitting right there next to Robert Kraft in the owner’s box as the New England Patriots stormed from behind and took home the Lombardi Trophy. Yes, Kenny Chesney. We’re talking about an artist that has 27 Number One songs. He’s headlined nearly every NFL stadium in the league from Gillette Stadium to Lambeau Field, AT&T Stadium, Arrowhead, CenturyLink and many more. He even has a Platinum certified single about football- see ‘Boys of Fall.’ Kenny isn’t just a singer, he’s an entertainer. And he’s a huge football fan.

It’s time to bring country music to the NFL Super Bowl halftime show and we think Kenny Chesney would be the perfect headliner.

Let’s make it happen.

Yours truly,
Country music and NFL fans alike.
