After a six month break, married duo, Keifer and Shawna Thompson, of Thompson Square, are back on the road. The couple welcomed their son Rigney Cooper (or Cooper as he’s called) Thompson on January 26th. They made good use of their break by writing and recording new music in anticipation of their third studio album. NECM spoke with Keifer Thompson to discuss the release of their new single ‘You Make It Look So Good.’
The duo pride themselves on writing their own music, but they didn’t write ‘You Make It Look So Good.’ They are always on the lookout for good songs, and it is the best songs that win. “This might be my favorite song we ever put out. It’s so us, it’s so Thompson Square. I think it’s exactly what our fans love about us. It’s the perfect song at the perfect time.”
The meaning of the song touched home with Keifer and Shawna. It is about being young and saying you are not going to get married or have a family, nothing can tie you down, and when you meet the right person all of that changes. “When you meet that special someone, it makes all the things you did not want, look really good. Career wise and personally, this song was the obvious choice as a single.”
On May 6, 2016, Thompson Square used social media as a platform to announce the release of ‘You Make It Look So Good.’ On their official website, Thompson Square stated that they were going to share some very special news with fans via Facebook Live. Fans and media were encouraged to visit Thompson Square’s official Facebook page to hear the news directly from the duo.
“Social media is a big part of everyone’s career now. It’s almost as important as everything else we do. It gives us a way to communicate with our fans. You would never have that opportunity while touring. You can put something out and immediately have a million people see it and respond.”
The couple debuted the song on May 20th, with an exclusive home movie starring Cooper. The single serves as the soundtrack to the video.
It will be a family affair as Thompson Square and baby Cooper are on the road touring through September. Yesterday, June 9th, during the CMA Music Festival, Thompson Square will be hosting their first ever fan club party. “This is something we have never done. A fan club party. It’s important for us to do it this year. It’s free and it will be really fun for some of our biggest fans.”
