The ‘Flock of Quayle’ is On the Rise to Winning the ‘Rising Star’ Contest

Stephanie Quayle has made it to the top five in the Macy’s iHeart Radio Rising Star contest. Her fan base, ‘The Flock,’ has helped her get to where she is today in the contest, as well as in her musical career. She had her first ever interview with NECM on Wednesday (June 29th) and was more than excited to share her passion for music and her love for her new single ‘Drinking With Dolly.’

Stephanie has been involved in the music industry for quite some time now, but when she saw the chance to be apart of the Rising Star contest she had to take it. She has worked extremely hard over the course of her career and the new found exposure from this contest is giving her the edge she needs in country music. “I try to lead by example and kindness and grace and just keep on going. I grew up on a farm and when you fell off your horse and you got back on and kept going. You fought back tears and kept moving.”

If Stephanie were to win the iHeart Radio contest she said would owe it all to her loyal ‘Flock of Quayle’ fans, “I will have to find every single fan that has given their time, because really it’s not me that’s going to win it… it’s the fans that have all come together in a way that I have never seen before. It would mean to me an overwhelming amount of gratitude because my fans have rallied for me like I have never experienced before.” Seeing all the fans sending in votes for her “is confirmation that I’m doing what I’m meant to do. I knew that this is what I was supposed to do since the age of 16. To see this coming to fruition in a way and resonating with everyone is wild.”

Stephanie’s lead single ‘Drinking With Dolly’ resonates with her for many reasons. She grew up listening to the women of country music and they have helped shape her life and taught her how to be herself. Stephanie knew ‘Drinking With Dolly’ was the song for her because it felt so right. “The first chord, the first line ‘sometimes I think I was born too late, came into the world at the wrong decade’, I’ve said those words before and it hit me so hard and I knew that it was a must for me. I can’t not sing it and feel every line. I am unbelievably grateful for these women. It’s a brilliant song and it’s an honor to pay tribute to those women.”

Stephanie was extremely excited to talk to NECM about her success in the contest and was more than open to have a casual conversation like she was an old friend. Despite her successes she remains very humble. She stays true to who she is and where she came from. Throughout the interview she referenced her hometown and upbringing numerous times and credited the person she is today and her success today to that. She also wanted to make it a point to appreciate her fans and all that they do for her and her career.
