Cassadee Pope: ‘Take You Home’ Single Review

The Voice season three winner, Cassadee Pope, released a highly anticipated single, ‘Take You Home,’ on Friday, March 30th. This was the first taste of new music from the singer in almost two years. The single is a new sound and shows the growth she has made during her hiatus. She is now an independent artist and put out the new song with no record label. This is a brave decision but has paid off big time for Pope.  The song begins with a bang as the percussion immediately grabs your attention before the story begins.

‘Take You Home’  is a song about a potential relationship.  When you hear the title you may have assumptions about the meaning of the song but the lyrics tell another story. I wanna take you home and I ain’t talking about a two mile ride back to my place. Pope tells the story of wanting to take this person home to meet her family and to see where she came from. She talks about meeting someone and having an instant connection but wanting to have a meaningful relationship. Showing someone the church you went too, your high school football field and back roads you used to drive is personal.  That’ll tell you everything you need to know about me and why I talk like I do and why I’m falling for you and why I take it slow. I wanna take you home.

Emily Weisband, Ben Hayslip and Paul DiGiovanni are the writers behind this single.  Pope delivers their lyrics with her sultry voice and unique sound. You can watch Cassadee Pope on The Voice this season as she mentors Kelly Clarkson’s team.  Hopefully ’Take You Home’ is just a taste of more new music to come!
