Morgan Wallen: ‘This Bar’ Single Review

After a monster year in 2019, Morgan Wallen finished off the year by releasing his latest single ‘This Bar.’ The song came out just two days before he kicked off his Whiskey Glasses Roadshow tour. The Tennessee native is known for his rough-around-the-edges and raspy vocals, but uses those attributes to turn in a smooth, meaningful song. Wallen went on Twitter to say “Wrote this song with my buddies about some moments and times in my life that have made me who I am today.”

The song follows Morgan on a journey of growth and heartbreak, with ‘This Bar’ being the constant in his life. A soft acoustic intro opens the song but it quickly picks up the pace. Wallen reflects on the days of being 21 and going to out to get too drunk or thrown out of the bar. Morgan shifts gears to reminisce about having his heartbroken by a woman and her coming into the bar with a new man, turning to alcohol to take the pain away. Part of his journey is how people change and mature. Wallen uses strong vocals to finish the song as he describes his feelings, memories and a special place in his heart that the bar holds. He longs for one night like the past, but the only part he can relive is being in “This Bar.”

The song and tour start 2020 with momentum for Morgan as he continues to rise the ranks of the music scene. The Whiskey Glasses Roadshow tour hits New England with two nights at the house of Blues Boston in April. More updates for Wallen can be found on his website, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
