Miranda Lambert Brings Platinum to Mansfield

On Saturday, September 6th, 2014, Miranda Lambert brought her Platinum tour to the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, MA. Lambert brought Justin Moore and Thomas Rhett along with her for the ride.

Thomas Rhett started the night off, and really got the crowd going. Rhett kicked off his set with his smash hit Get Me Some of That.’ He interacted with the crowd and added his own unique twist to interaction. Whether it was shaking it, or giving a fan a high-five, you could tell he was completely comfortable and had an amazing stage presence. Rhett’s set also included his new single Make Me Wanna’, and his other hits, Beer with Jesus,’ and ‘It Goes Like This.’ Thomas Rhett also played Parking Lot Party,a song that he wrote and was recorded by Lee Brice. During Parking Lot Party, Rhett took a break from the song and covered parts of ‘Dust on the Bottle,’ ‘The Joker,’ ‘Free Fallin,’ and ‘Ms New Booty. Rhett ended his set with Something To Do With My Hands and at the end covered a part of Robin Thicke’s smash hit Blurred Lines. Overall, Rhett got the crowd going and set the bar high for Justin Moore and Miranda Lambert.

Next up, we had Justin Moore. Moore started his ten song set off with his top ten country radio hit Point at You.’ During Moore’s set, he covered no songs, all songs were off one of his albums, which most headliners do not even do. This shows how committed Justin is to his music, and how he likes to reach out to his fans with his music. Moore’s set also included, ‘How I Got To Be This Way,’ ‘Til My Last Day,’ ‘Bait a Hook,’ ‘Home Sweet Home,’ ‘If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away,’ ‘Small Town Throwdown,’ ‘Lettin’ The Night Roll,’ Backwoods,’ and ‘Small Town USA.’

At the start of If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away,’ Moore told the crowd “Let’s get those cell phone lights on and light this place up.” The crowd listened and soon the Xfinity Center was lit up with cell phone lights while Moore sang a song that has made an impact on many fans. Right after he finished the song, he got the party going again after slowing it down by bringing out Thomas Rhett to sing Small Town Throwdown. Thomas Rhett and Justin Moore did the song justice, and would have made Brantley Gilbert proud.

At the end of his set, Moore finished his night off with ‘Small Town USA,’ this song was Moore’s first number country single and was certified gold. Towards the end of the song, Moore and the band stopped and Moore kneeled down and took his hat off, and just watched an amazement as the crowd cheered him on, it was easy to see how grateful Moore was, and he told the crowd “everyday it gets harder to leave home, and you guys give me the strength to do it.” The standing ovation Moore received ended his set, and thanks to Justin Moore and Thomas Rhett, the crowd was ready to party with Miranda.

As the lights dimmed, the crowd cheered anticipating the star of the show to appear any minute, but Miranda Lambert didn’t come out on stage just yet, instead the video for ‘Somethin’ Bad’ began playing on the big screen. The energy from the crowd increased tenfold and they screamed so loud you could barely hear the song above them! Miranda Lambert appeared in the flesh soon after, opening with her top ten hit ‘Fastest Girl in Town,’ from her platinum selling album ‘Four the Record.’

Her second song ‘Kerosene’ from her album of the same title, fired up the crowd even more, if that were possible. She continued her set with ‘Platinum’ from her 5th studio album, and current number one selling, ‘Platinum.’ Other songs from this album were performed including ‘Priscilla,’ ‘Smokin’ and Drinkin,’ featuring Little Big Town, the silly song ‘Little Red Wagon,’ and her current single, ‘Automatic.’

‘Me and Charlie Talking’, from her 1st album, ‘Kerosene’, was the 9th song in her set. Miranda continued the night with ‘Famous in a Small Town’, from her album, ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’,  along with Heart Like Mine,’ and ‘White Liar. But one of the most memorable performances of the night was ‘The House That Built Me,’ which ended up turning into a whole venue sing along.

From the album, ‘Four the Record,’  Lambert sang, ‘Mama’s Broken Heart,’ ‘All Kinds of Kinds,’ the ultimate break up song, ‘Baggage Claim,’ and her most emotional song of the night the 2012 CMA Award winning Song of the Year, ‘Over You.’

Miranda’s last song before her encore, was ‘Gunpowder and Lead,’ in which she of course held up her signature rifle mic stand while singing, with a lot of help from the audience, the lines, “His fist is big but my gun’s bigger. He’ll find out when I pull the trigger” Nothing like going out with a bang!

During Lambert’s 2 song encore, she covered Patsy Cline’s Crazy and ZZ Top’sAll Your Lovin.’ Right after Miranda finished ‘Crazy,’ she proclaimed she forgot to do something, and proceeded to put on a Tom Brady Jersey and finished the night covering ZZ Top. Miranda mixed in some of her new stuff, and some of her hits to put together an incredible set, and an incredible show. The night was really focused on the music, not special effects, and what a good country show should be, she ended the summer country concert series, at the XFinity Center in style.
