Jason Aldean’s sixth studio album, ‘Old Boots New Dirt,‘ debuted at the top of the Billboard all-genre Top 200 chart. The album sold over 278,000 albums in its first week and also broke the record for both first-day and first-week streams by a country album on Spotify ever. In 2014, there were only two other albums who outsold ‘Old Boots New Dirt‘ in their first weeks: Coldplay’s ‘Ghost Stories‘ (383,000 copies), and Eric Church’s ‘The Outsiders‘ (288,000 copies).
And critics from all over are praising this newest album by the Georgia native.
“The album is his most ambitious to date” -Associated Press
“…Musically adventurous… Old Boots, New Dirt shows just how far he has come as a vocalist” -Billboard
“There isn’t a track on this disc that couldn’t be a hit on country radio. That’s the sound of a modern megastar who knows what his audience wants” -Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
Aldean’s last album ‘Night Train,’ was certified platinum and did so within four weeks of it’s release date. But with these first week numbers, ‘Old Boots New Dirt‘ may be able to be certified platinum even sooner that ‘Night Train‘ did. Only time will tell.
