Country Rain

Thousands of New Englanders had their 4th of July parties and plans ruined as Hurricane Arthur came rolling through. Fireworks cancelled or postponed, uneaten potato salad and hot dogs, strong winds, and homes without electricity… all consequences of Arthur. The storm brought hundreds of inches of rain to the region with areas in southeastern Massachusetts, such as New Bedford, enduring up to 8 inches of rain. But thinking about it- we have had some great wet, rainy moments in country music here in New England…

Like Kenny Chesney’s final show on his 2011 tour. Hurricane Irene came storming through but that didn’t stop Kenny and 55,000 fans from backing Gillette Stadium. And was one of my favorite shows.

Or when 55,000 Swifties packed Gillette Stadium for Taylor Swift in June of 2011 for a night full of torrential downpours.

So it made us think of our favorite country songs about rain or that mentions rain… Here are just a few of what we came up with.

Straight to the point: David Nail, Let It Rain.

The legend, Willie Nelson, and Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain. (P.S.- Look how young he looks!)

And of course, Mr. Luke Bryan with Rain is a Good Thing.

And there’s more! From Garth Brooks to Vince Gill and Loretta Lynn to George Strait, Reba, Brad Paisley, and Shania Twain.

These were just a few of our favorites. What are your favorites? Let us know in the comments!
