Chase Rice: ‘Three Chords and The Truth’ Single Review

It has been three years since Chase Rice released his album ‘Ignite the Night’ in 2014, which featured popular singles ‘Ready, Set, Roll,’ ‘Ride,’ and ‘Gonna Wanna Tonight.’ Since then, Rice has released singles here and there such as ‘Everybody We Know Does,’ ‘Whisper,’ and ‘If I’m Bein’ Honest.’ But now, the long anticipated wait for new Chase Rice music is finally over! The singer/songwriter is back with his new single ‘Three Chords and The Truth’ off his forthcoming album ‘Lambs & Lions.’

‘Three Chords and The Truth,’ the first single off his new album, is an ode to country music. Its tells the tale of Rice’s journey to Nashville and why music is so important to him. He alludes to his love of country music and his desire to pursue it through other song title references such as ‘Sweet Home Alabama,’ ‘Anything But Mine,’ and ‘Copperhead Road’ to name a few. However, the song can also be looked at from a romantic standpoint, painting the picture of two lovers reminiscing on memories made to the songs mentioned and how much emotion music brings forth in people.

The new single is the perfect blend between Rice’s story and a love song. The dual sides to the song leaves room for imagination and lets listeners determine what perspective they want to hear when it’s playing. It starts off with the draw that the Music City brings in and how a young country singer’s dream begins to flourish. Nashville is the underlying metaphor of the single – with it being the root of the genre and how country music always brings you home. Numerous country songs are mentioned throughout the verses, most of which consisting of three chords and the truth – which is exactly the message that Chase and co-writers Ross Copperman and Jon Nite wanted to portray. It then transitions into a love song, with country music turning back time to when the lovers made their memories. With the creative play on songs and attention detail, it shows fans and listener’s alike that Rice is ready to bring forth his take on country music. He’s letting fans know that he’s back and better than ever.

‘Three Chords and The Truth’ is honest, natural, and shows a side of Rice that is different than his previous singles. He’s ready to bare his soul in his new up-coming album ‘Lambs & Lions’ set to release September 29th.

Favorite Lyrics: For a second we’re bulletproof, we get lost in a song or two. The world don’t move and all I need is you and three chords and the truth…
