Carly Pearce put on a killer performance at The Wolf Den at Mohegan Sun on February 10th. She played the entirety of her album ‘Every Little Thing’ with a few added bonuses. She was extremely playful with her crowd, posing for pictures mid-song, winking, singing directly into cameras recording her, and acknowledging everyone for post-show autographs and pictures!
She opened her performance with ‘Careless’ which got a huge crowd reaction. ‘Catch Fire’ and ‘Color’ were played before she addressed the Den; “how we doin’ Wolf Den?!” ‘I Need A Ride Home,’ one of Carly’s favorite songs, was then introduced by its backstory. “Y’all I quit high school when I was 16 to join a singing competition because I knew I could make this dream and reality. And God bless my mama and daddy for letting their 16 year old quit high school, but they believed in me. And this song is about me missing them and my home where I grew up. It takes me right back man.” She turned it up a few notches by playing ‘Everybody Gonna Talk’ which transitioned into Shania Twain’s ‘I Feel Like A Woman’ followed by ‘You Know Where To Find Me’ and ‘Feel Something.’
Halfway through her set she did an exclusive, stripped-down performance of Deeana Carter’s ‘Strawberry Wine,’ in which her band members left the stage. The crowd seemed to know every lyric to this hit and made Carly shine on stage. After being re-joined by her band, the next two songs were about love and love lost. ‘Honeysuckle’ was dedicated to those who have a high school love that they could relate it to and ‘Doing It Right,’ she explained, was written over wine. “I think y’all know by now that I love wine. And I also love writing music with my good girlfriends. So ‘Doing It Right’ was written over a glass, or bottle, of wine and it’s dedicated to the boys who are good at sucking.” Pearce then broke out into a string of recently released songs. ‘If My Name Was Whiskey’ was her second released single off of her debut album. Ironically enough, it was the last song she wrote. ‘Hide The Wine,’ her latest single, picked the pace up and got the crowd engaged, with the audience strongly singing the chorus back to her. To close out her set, she played her No. 1 single ‘Every Little Thing.’ Her encore song was ‘9 to 5’ by Dolly Parton, which got the audience ready to go get their night started at the casino.
During her performance, Pearce hit every note, high and low, quite effortlessly and perfectly. She chose songs that compliment her voice well and the audience was drawn to her from start to finish, with more and more people joining the den as the night went on. With a playful on stage presence, it is clear as to why fans love her. She is a must-see live show when she comes to your town or state.
