Cam Shows Her Appreciation

Just 1 day away from releasing her album, titled ‘Untamed,’ the singer-songwriter known as Cam has done something that we haven’t really seen before- at least not to this extent. She’s taken the time to not only introduce her album to the world in her own words but also to thank each and every person who has contributed to this album and her life throughout the process. It’s truly something special and shows exactly the type of person that Cam is- someone truly amazing. Check it out below.

Five years of my life have gone into this 38 minutes you are about to hear. Five years of work with my friends and co-conspirators (who are not particularly famous yet either, which I am very proud of). Through it all, we all have been broke, heartbroken, inspired, betrayed, fulfilled and very tired and very, very grateful. I’ve learned a lot of lessons in the process, they are written before each song in this booklet. Most importantly is to accept life, and yourself, as they are. When life hands you lemons – don’t you dare water it down and sweeten it up. You grab a straw and drink it straight. Then there is nothing left to fear, and you can truly be free. (And don’t forget to be nice, since we all are dealing with our own lemons.)

THANK YOU TO…

My parents for teaching me what unconditional love is. I’ve spent every year of my life outside of our home trying to create more family everywhere I go, because I’ve never felt a better feeling than what it means to be a unit with you.

Jillian my first best friend and the world’s best dreamer, for never seeing the world just as it is and having the perfect balance of imagination and care – which taught me how to be creative with others, the biggest gift anyone has ever given me.

Grampa for magic windows, Brer Rabbit stories and dirty Ranch chores. In every song I try to nail the punch line just as you would at the dinner table.

Grama Marvel for teaching me what it means to be a leader: to love others and invest in them, and they will love you right back.

My aunts and uncles and extended family for encouraging me to be creative and to my whole family for loving music as much as I do – I’ve watched you all dance, sing and be moved by music on such a real level. That’s what music should do. That’s what I am trying my best to do here in this album.

California for letting me believe everything is an adventure!
Adam (and Honey) for being my foundation. For celebrating the good and getting me through the very, very tired times.

Tyler for creating this whole album with me. For being my co-conspirator through 5 years – learning about HOW to do everything. For your drive and patience to not only get better at our craft but to see the big picture of how we can reach people, while trying to manage the effects of the ego button. Tiny little ants climbing this mountain.

Lindsay for going broke with me. For seeing all of this success back when Ty & I didn’t fully believe you. For late nights writing down all my memories and ideas to better understand who I am as an artist. For loving this music at such a molecular level, for being f***ing fearless and for sharing a brain with me.

Thank you both for years of our lives dedicated to a single purpose. For building this world of make-believe with me. For never settling for anything less than a wild rumpus. Our lives and our abilities would be very different without one another.

Doug & Anders my musical brothers in arms, for the adventure of teaching ourselves about art & life. Thank you for being talented & open to whatever task is ahead of us. You are independent-spirited & super-bro professional and you push and inspire me to do better and be creative about everything I do. There is literally (and mentally) no way I could have done this without you.

Alex, Walle, Jokke, Simon & Alfred for sharing the biggest moments of my life on stage so far, and the longest car rides of my life so far.

All the families that supported us, fed us and housed us along the way. All hail the home-cooked meal!

Everyone that loaned me money over the years while I worked to get this music off the ground – I won’t name you so people can’t come asking you for money too.

Jeff Bhasker for inspiring us before we knew you, then believing in us and helping us believe in ourselves. Thank you for your guidance- bringing these songs to exactly where they should be.

Josh for educating, encouraging & guiding me for the long haul. You saw the end game so many years ago and we have a fun future ahead because of your smarts.

Doug Morris for being a music lover and music maker. For believing in my music as much as I do, and for knowing how to broadcast it to the world.

The team at Arista (Lesly, Andy, LT, Ali, Rusty, Cliff, John & Jenny) for showing me just how hard someone can work and still keep a smile on their face. Thank you for building the foundation for my music.

Peter and Tatiana for your excitement & belief & trust and for bugging Jeff about Burning House nonstop when you first heard it.

Randy Goodman for treating this project like it was your own, and for bringing in a culture where we all can thrive. Ashwood for being a second home. Late nights whittling away at sounds and structure while Fantasia and Wes

Anderson movies silently lit our brains on fire.

The Rabbit Hole for being the first house I ever loved, for taking care of Lindsay and I through some of the worst times, and for all the magic you gave us.

Jon Castelli for being such a great listener and for willing to go the extra millions of miles to make sure these mixes sounded PERFECT!

Melissa Mattey for teaching us about the “Nashville Way”, for being INCREDIBLE with sound and for smiling and investing in this music while we spent YEARS being our crazy unpredictable selves.

Kristen, Ninelle & Jakob for bringing these songs into the visual realm with such beauty and understanding. And thank you Kristen for being a jack of all trades ninja road warrior, for dealing with countless notes, and for being the most empathic artist I’ve ever met.

Michael Bryan for being a part of this from the beginning and then being the first to put me on country radio. Bobby Bones for letting me come on your show countless times, and at a time when the future was unclear you

played the heck out of Burning House. Thank you for starting something that changed my life.

Rod & Kylen (and everyone at CAA) for being early believers and for the continued expansion of Cam Country.

Nashville for letting us be a small part of such a proud history, a strong community and a beautiful future.

All of the female artists that have paved the way, and to the girls that will stand on my shoulders one day.

YOU, the fans (camfam)!! You connect with my stories, you dance and sing at my shows, you hug me in the airport, and now you own this album. Thank you for understanding me, and making me feel like I’m not a weirdo.

(and it’s probably not cool but, thanks to me, for not taking a crappy publishing deal, for working my butt off, and doing all of this just because I wanted to.)

Three Thieves Thank You’s…

We invested our time, money, and lives and made something out of nothing. We are kids raising kids, and have learned almost everything from the ground up. We’d like to thank each other, and never forget the Google hangouts while Cam was in Nashville, Ty was in LA, and Lindsay was in Chicago. We gave each other the strength to attempt the impossible and follow our dreams – even when quitting or compromising seemed like the much easier option. True friends never let you settle, instead we spent our time jumping off cliffs and building planes on the way down. Our lives and our abilities would be very different without one another.
