If you haven’t heard of Chase Bryant yet, don’t worry as you will be hearing a lot about him very soon. The just turned 22 year old singer from Texas is rapidly ascending the country charts with his debut single, ‘Take It On Back.’ The hit single is now in the Top 20 at Country Radio and it landed there in only 12 weeks. He has been named an On the Verge Artist by iHeart Radio and one of Teen Vogue’s Hottest 10 Country Acts. Chase recently completed a thirteen week radio tour to promote the new single and sat down to discuss the song with New England Country Music.
Chase didn’t just perform this song as he also co-wrote, produced and played all of the solo- guitar on his first single for Red Bow records. Right out of the gate you can tell that he’s serious about his music and that shows in him taking part in every aspect of it. Since he co-wrote ‘Take It On Back,’ we had to ask if there was a personal story behind it:
“You’re the first person I’ve told this whole story to and so glad you asked the question. There was a girl I was talking to in high-school and dated for a minute. I had broken up with another girl and realized she was a really cool girl and I liked to talk to her. Had gone back home and we hung out and it was like going back to that time when it was good, it was fun.”
The first thing you get from talking to Chase is how humble he is and how much his fans mean to him when it comes to the writing process. When he writes a song, he wants the fans to feel like they are part of the process and involved as much as possible. Chase wants them to hear his music and be like, “that’s the story of my life.” The song has such a great sound to it and instantly brings the listener into that world. While chatting we discussed what his favorite line of the song was, “I don’t know why but ‘Take it on back to where the grass is greener.’ Coolest part for me when writing as sums up the song in one line.”
His talent has been quickly recognized by the rest of the country music industry as he’s already been booked to open for Brantley Gilbert on the second leg of his current tour. “I was in Portand, Oregon and got a call we could possibly get the opening. I said let’s do it on a Wednesday, they needed to know by that Friday and my single came out the following Monday.” That’s quite the week for the young country artist and one heck of an opportunity.
Automatically when you hear about an artist in country music who is a great guitarist, you instantly go to the likes of Brad Paisley, Keith Urban and Hunter Hayes. Chase certainly has his own style and asked him to describe it:
“It’s kind of a throwback country with a little more modernized sound, Grew up listening to Tom Petty, Bryan Adams, Vince Gill, Keith Urban and George Strait. My sound is very guitar driven and it’s like if Tom Petty and Keith Urban had a baby.”
No one could have expected ‘Take It On Back’ to take off like it has and that fact isn’t lost on Chase Bryant at all, “Did I expect this success? Absolutely not! No shooting bull as I’m just being honest. I just had faith in it as I believe faith is bigger than anything. Faith is the biggest supplement to success.”
NECM would like to thank Chase for taking the time to talk with us and wish him ever greater success in the future. Can’t wait to see what’s next for this talented artist.
