WCTK Virtual Kenny Chesney Concert is Friday August 23

(Providence, RI) August 6, 2019:  Hall Communications Cat Country 98.1 (WCTK-FM/Providence) is broadcasting a virtual Kenny Chesney show on Friday night, August 23.  The show will feature a mixture of live and studio Chesney cuts. Opening acts will be determined by fan voting – which is going on now on Cat Country’s website www.catcountry.com/kenny.  

 “There is a big void left in our summer with no Kenny,” said Bob Walker, Vice President of Programming for Hall Communications and Program Director for WCTK.  “Those two nights Kenny usually plays Gillette are magical. We figured our fans might like to move the show to their backyard and this would be a fun way to do it.  They shouldn’t have to deal with no Gronk and no Kenny in the same month!”

“Opening for Kenny at Gillette is such a big deal in the industry,” said April Shibley, Promotions Manager for WCTK in Providence and WNBH in New Bedford.  “We decided to let our fans choose who should get that honor. The nomination phase is over and now it’s raw voting. The voting has been fast and furious.”“The first acts will play at 8pm with Kenny going on live around 9 all the way until midnight,” added Walker.  “Fan response has been overwhelming so we are excited to bring this to New England over the air, via our stream at www.catcountry.com or on any Amazon Alexa smart speaker via the Cat Country skill.”
