2017 was a big year for independent country artist, Aaron Watson. His self-penned single ‘Outta Style’ from the album ‘Vaquero‘ broke a Billboard record when it peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart in late December of 2017. The song’s peak took 50 weeks to complete, marking a new Country Airplay chart record for the longest trek to a top 10 spot. Watson is looking to continue his success in 2018 with his newest single release from the album, titled ‘Run Wild Horses.’ It was released to country radio on March 3, 2018.
This single is a love song and is more importantly an ode to Watson’s wife of fifteen years. It’s a celebration of a love that is timeless and yet still as passionate as if it had just begun. The song features both the guitar and the fiddle heavily, but it’s Watson’s vocal performance that really turns the heat up. The song focuses on how freeing and passionate love can be when you let your guard down enough to set love free, So let’s break these chains and go down like the setting sun. No love don’t need these reins no we can’t be bound can’t tie us down run wild horses. The song is just two chords, but it is very sultry. It’s the kind of song you want to listen to with the windows down and the sunshine warming your skin. It will likely get quite a bit of air time as the summer draws closer and closer.
Even though Watson was a newcomer to country radio last year he has had quite the career in country music that spans 17 years with over a dozen albums and more than 2,500 shows; yet he works hard and sticks to his humble roots. He gets up every morning at 5 a.m. to write songs on an old pawnshop guitar that he purchased 20 years ago. The hard work and determination has paid off for Watson in the last couple of years. His album ‘Vaquero‘ was his biggest career sales debut to date. The album hit the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart and was also at #2 on the Top Country Albums chart. This isn’t just a one-time thing for Watson either. He made history with his previous album, ‘The Underdog,’ in 2015 when the album debuted at #1 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart. That was the first time in history that an independent, male country artist debuted at the top spot. All of his recent success has been well deserved and you can expect more great things to come from Aaron Watson.
