Kane Brown, Cam, LANCO and WKLB Take Over Lansdowne

It was a warm June day as the sun beamed over Fenway Park and the surrounding area. A line of 8,000 strong had nearly completely wrapped around Fenway Park as it was time for what has become the annual party on Lansdowne Street known as the Country 102.5 Street Party. It’s one of the few days that the popular street is more crowded than on a Red Sox-Yankees game. And this past Sunday, June 3rd was no different as country fans came to see Kane Brown, Cam, LANCO, Brown & Gray, Stephanie Quayle and New England favorite Timmy Brown.

Timmy Brown kicked off the day with fan favorite ‘Lil Bit’ and of course a performance of ‘Sweet Caroline’ with the stage peering right at the fabled Green Monster. Following Timmy’s set was a couple rising acts including Stephanie Quayle who delivered an energetic set that included her single ‘Selfish’ and Brown & Gray who have been all over the airwaves with ‘Top Down.’

The energy continued when LANCO took the stage. The guys were fresh off an airplane from St. Louis where they had just played a show on Dierks Bentley’s 2018 tour the night prior. Their set consisted of ‘Troublemaker,’ ‘Long Live Tonight,’ ‘Pick You Up,’ and their current single ‘Born To Love You,’ which had fans singing along. They continued with ‘Singing At The Stars’ before playing the song their most known for, ‘Greatest Love Story,’ which included a crowd singalong. It was a quick day for LANCO in Boston but one that they took full advantage of as the crowd was buzzing after they left the stage.

Next up was the sensational Cam- one of our favorite artists because of there powerful vocals and badass attitude. The California artist started her time off with ‘Road To Happiness’ and ‘Mayday’ before telling the crowd a story about a guy who she had an ‘adult relationship’ with and the next day, he didn’t talk to her or show her any respect. She later explained on social media, “Once upon a time a boy treated a girl with zero respect. So she learned from her Half Broke Heart and started talking with other women about how to handle situations like this. And she lived happily ever after.” With that story, she performed ‘Half Broke Heart.’ Her day continued with ‘Hungover on Heartache,’ ‘Palace,’ ‘Cold in California,’ ‘Sweet Dreams,’ and ‘Village’ before playing the song we were most excited to hear live- ‘Diane.’ Cam’s powerful vocals echoed beautifully down Lansdowne Street and fans were singing and dancing along to the raucous performance of this jam. Ending her day, Cam performed ‘Burning House’ before waving to the crowd and retreating backstage.

Ending the day was the ever so popular Kane Brown. Throughout the day, Kane would make his way to and from backstage to the radio room at House of Blues which would cause the crowd to start screaming when he walked by. It was apparent that the majority of the crowd was there to see Kane as the bass’ were cranked up and the crowd screamed even louder when he took the stage saying, “BOSTON! How we doing!?” He started off with ‘Found You’ and ‘Hometown’ which were massively popular with the crowd as it seemed they were singing every word back to him. And it only continued with ‘Used To Love You Sober’ and ‘What’s Mine Is Yours.’

The day continued with upcoming single ‘Lose It,’ ‘Better Place’ and ‘Cold Spot’ before Kane and his guitarist Alex gave the crowd an acoustic set that included a cover of Billy Currington’s ‘If I Fall.’ Brown would continue with a mash up that included covers of ‘Billionaire,’ ‘Ms. Jackson,’ ‘Over My Head’ and his own ‘Location.’ His day in Boston would continue with ‘There Goes My Everything,’ ‘Heaven,’ ‘Weekend,’ ‘Learning’ and ‘Closer’ before a two song encore that started with ‘Pull It Off’ and his Number One single, ‘What If’s.’

It was a great day in the Fenway as Country 102.5 always knows how to throw a great party. And if you missed this Street Party, don’t fret- they announced on stage that their fall edition would return on September 23rd. Lineup and details will be announced in the future- and we’ll share all the details when we have ’em!

LANCO: ‘Born To Love You’ Single Review

Hot off the chart-topping success of ‘Greatest Love Story,’ from their debut album ‘Hallelujah Nights,’ LANCO recently released another soon-to-be hit titled ‘Born to Love You.’ The five-member band consisting of Brandon Lancaster, Chandler Baldwin, Jared Hampton, Tripp Howell, and Eric Steedly, has created a tender, yet upbeat love song.

‘Born to Love You’ starts off with crisp guitar picking which leads into the opening lyrics. I was born in a town full of red pine trees. County sign says “follow your dreams.” Westbound train makes the whole town shake. Friday night lights decide your fate. These words can describe any small town in America and bring the listener right back to their carefree younger days. The tempo picks up when the chorus begins. You’ll surely have your feet tapping along with the percussion to: Looking in your eyes, yeah it’s all so clear. Every time you smile, I know why I’m here. Wherever I go and whatever I do. I was born to love you, I was born to love you. Words like this get us thinking about how much love we have for that special someone in our own life.

Lead singer, Brandon Lancaster, told Nash Country Daily that ‘Born to Love You’ is about “Who we all are, the small towns we came from and the search for what the world has to offer.” He went on to say: “This song brings together those early experiences with finding that person who makes it all matter… The person that you were born to love.” LANCO has used their own upbringing and life experiences to construct this infectious song. ‘Born to Love You’ is surely a fresh, feel-good love song that you’ll look forward to listening to again and again.

‘Born to Love You’ was penned by lead singer Brandon Lancaster, Ross Copperman, Ashley Gorley and Josh Osborne. LANCO, a ‘new to the scene’ country band got their start in a pretty non-traditional way. CMT News reported that Lancaster was working a concession stand register at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena during Keith Urban’s Light the Fuse tour in 2014. He spotted GRAMMY-winning producer Jay Joyce walking by. “I told him I was a fan and a little bit about what I did. We talked about writing and the band, and he ended up inviting the guys and myself out to the studio to play him some music.” Joyce ended up producing the chart-topping album ‘Hallelujah Nights.’ LANCO certainly has a unique story of how they came to be.

Hopefully you were lucky enough to catch LANCO at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell, MA back in February. Currently, LANCO does not have any New England tour dates scheduled. Our fingers are crossed that they add one or two for this summer!

Favorite Lyrics: I could search the world from south to north. But I’ve already found what I’m looking for. Wherever I go and whatever I do. I was born to love you, I was born to love you.

LANco: ‘Hallelujah Nights’ Album Review

LANco’s debut album, ‘Hallelujah Nights,’ was released on Friday, January 19th, with consistent jam-after-jam. After their Number One single, ‘Greatest Love Story,’ this album won’t let you down. Lead singer, Brandon Lancaster, either wrote or co-wrote each of the 11 songs featured.  LANco’s sound flows through each song with the theme of love and living life. ‘Hallelujah Nights’ is extremely relatable, each lyric strokes a memory of your own that keeps you itching for more.

1.) ‘Born to Love You’ – Written by Brandon Lancaster, Ross Copperman, Ashley Gorley, and Josh Osborne.
Impression: Brandon told Sounds Like Nashville, “You kinda find that the reason you’re really here is because of them, and you were born to love them.”  ‘Born to Love You’ being their most recent single with some feel good music and an ode to love, is also the perfect opening song and sets the tone for their debut album.
Favorite Lyric: Every time you smile, I know why I’m here …

2.) ‘Long Live Tonight’ – Written by Brandon Lancaster and Jason Reeves.
Impression: ‘Long Live Tonight’ is a reminder we all need. As cliché as it sounds, love until you cry, laugh until you cry, stay up to see the sunrise, dance it out and live in the moment so when you look back you know you lived life to the fullest.
Favorite Lyric: This is one of those nights and I don’t want to wreck it with distractions and worries ‘Bout what all could go wrong tomorrow so live in this moment and know that there’s no time to borrow…

3.) ‘Pick You Up’ – Written by Brandon Lancaster, Jeremy Spillman and Ben West.
Impression: The drums and the keys really take the lead on this track.  The melody of ‘Pick You Up’ is easy and feels comfortable, similar to reconnecting with an old love interest. A soft sound that offers you relief and picks you up.
Favorite Lyric: I’ve been driving myself crazy thinking about the good times back when you were all mine. We were flying so high nothing but a blue sky and my passenger seat misses you with me…

4.) ‘Greatest Love Story’ – Written by Brandon Lancaster.
Impression: ‘Greatest Love Story’ is a Number One hit for a reason!  The soft guitar intro paired with vocals hooks you from the beginning. The band joins and you are reeled in.  As the saying goes, ‘If you love something let it go. If it comes back, it’s yours for forever.’  ‘Greatest Love Story’ is exactly that.  We follow the journey of high school sweethearts to college and finally back to the realization that they were meant for the greatest love of all.
Favorite Lyric: ‘Cause I’m what you wanted and you’re what I need, so let’s meet in between…

5.) ‘We Do’ – Written by Brandon Lancaster.
Impression: Plain and simple, life is what it is. You may not have a lot of money, a big house, or fancy clothes but enjoy the time you have and the people you share it with. No doubt that the gentlemen of LANco do.
Favorite Lyric: We don’t got a lot of gas, we don’t got a lot of money, but we got a lot of jokes and we always think they’re funny. It’s the simple things that keep us going…

6.) ‘Trouble Maker’ – Written by Brandon Lancaster, Jeremy Spillman and Jay Joyce.
Impression: ‘Trouble Maker’ is a light hearted, fun song that girls will chuckle at and some guys can relate to.  Strings paired with a tambourine and the unconventional drumming of broomsticks, ‘Trouble Maker’ is one of a kind.
Favorite Lyric: I’m in the band, thought that would get her. But she left with her girlfriends, should’ve known better. 1,2,3,4, there she goes out the door…

7.) ‘Singin’ at the Stars’ – Written by Brandon Lancaster and Jeremy Spillman.
Impression: With an instrumental intro, ‘Singin’ at the Stars’ has a different sound than the rest of the album but perfectly displays the Kings of Leon undercurrent LANco is described to have.
Favorite Lyric: It’s a sweet song and I know it by heart. It’s you and me singin’ at the stars

8.) ‘Win You Over’ – Written by Brandon Lancaster.
Impression: With a slight rock feel, LANco narrates a first date that they show in the movies.  Hand on the knee, butterfly feelings, the challenge of winning the seal of approval.
Favorite Lyric: This must be the feeling that they talk about in movies. Never thought I’d find the one who’d do it to me..

9.) ‘So Long (I Do)’ – Written by Brandon Lancaster, Jay Joyce and Melissa Fuller.
Impression: While ‘So Long’ makes you bob your head, it makes you think back to summer memories. The summer fling, the long nights, the one that got away, the memories of the moments that slipped away and what wondering what if.
Favorite Lyric: And when you get a little buzz and lay under the stars, do you think about us small small…

10.) ‘Middle of the Night’ – Written by Brandon Lancaster.
Impression: The harmonica intros you to this upbeat song that will get you snapping your fingers right along with it. ‘Middle of the Night’ creates excitement and gets your adrenaline pumping.
Favorite Lyric: When this whole word gets you down, there’s a place I know outside of town.  We could get lost and we’ll be found in the middle of nowhere …

11.) ‘Hallelujah Nights’ – Written by Brandon Lancaster, Jay Joyce and Jeremy Spillman.
Impression: ‘Hallelujah Nights’ is about those nights you want to roll down your window, let the wind hit your face and throw your hands up.  The sound soothes you and brings you back to the memory of being purely and utterly carefree.
Favorite Lyric: Hang on to that feeling you never know when you’re gonna feel it again…
