We, at New England Country Music, enjoyed bringing you a full year of our WCW series in 2019. We didn’t want to leave the guys out entirely, so we’re switching things up a bit for 2020, and starting Man Crush Monthly. As you can probably guess, these twelve articles will be spotlighting the talented men who are crushing the country music scene.
We’re kicking off our NECM MCM series by featuring country artist Chris Lane. The thirty-five-year-old grew up in Kernersville, North Carolina alongside his twin brother Cory. Lane always dreamed of playing professional baseball, but when sports injuries kept him from pursuing that passion, he picked up the guitar. Lane started a cover band and then he and Cory auditioned for American Idol in 2007. Unfortunately, neither twin made it to Hollywood. A year went by before Chris was introduced to Seth England of Big Loud Mountain management and his career really took off.
Chris Lane’s debut single, ‘Broken Windshield View,’ was released to country radio in the summer of 2014. It was downloaded 11,000 times the first week, and reached number 45 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Two years later, in 2016, Lane released his first album, ‘Girl Problems‘ which included two singles, ‘Fix’ and ‘For Her.’ His fourteen-track second album, ‘Laps Around the Sun,’ dropped in 2018. The lead single, ‘Take Back Home Girl,’ a duet with pop singer Tori Kelly, was certified platinum by the RIAA. The second single from this album, ‘I Don’t Know About You,’ went on to be certified gold by the RIAA.
In 2017, Chris Lane was nominated for iHeartRadio Music Awards’ Best New Country Artist and ACM Awards’ New Male Vocalist of the Year.
As you probably know, this MCM recently married Lauren Bushnell, the “winner” of the 20th season of ABC’s hit show, The Bachelor. After a four-month engagement, the two tied the knot in Nashville on October 25, 2019.
The best news about Chris Lane is that he’ll be right here in Boston this week with his Big, Big Plans Tour. You can catch him along with Blanco Brown and Ernest on Saturday, January 11th at the House of Blues.
