Parmalee’s ‘Roots’ Are Spreading With New Single

Brothers Matt and Scott Thomas of Parmalee have been “planting their roots” in the country music industry for quite some time now. With the help of their cousin Barry and family friend Josh, the group produces some amazing work. They have recently released their newest single which has already connected with so many of their fans and new listeners alike.

The success of their new single, Roots,’ makes the band feel overwhelmed with happiness. “It’s awesome, you’re just trying to follow everything that you’ve done and you just want people to hear it.” For those of you who don’t know, the song was originally suppose to be cut for Luke Bryan. “Luke’s people wanted to play it for him before they even let us have it. We knew the song was out there, it was just one of those moments where we knew we had to have it. We needed this song.”

When the guys first heard the song they were hit hard, like most fans are when they first hear it. The song resonates with many for its relatability. “It definitely resonates with a lot people. There’s a lot of people like us out there and that’s one reason why the song hits so hard with us.” When asked if they would ever record a copy of ‘Roots’ with Luke Bryan, Matt laughed and said “of course!”

Behind the single is also a new album that is currently being finished up. There is no release date yet for the record but Matt says they want to do something within the next month. “It’s a work in progress. There’s a lot of stuff that’s similar to the first album, but we did go in a totally different direction but fans will see the similarities.”

The group has been headlining their own tour recently and Matt said it has been pretty cool. “It’s been fun. We’re sitting here being able to criss cross the country and see what’s going on everywhere.”

Despite being all family, the group still manages to have work feel like work. “We appreciate what’s going on. It’s a grind but we still love being out here.” Being a band of family makes their connection undeniable. To keep from getting on each other’s nerves, the group needs some alone time. “As soon as the bus stops we go our different ways. We like to do things outside, fishing, hiking, walking. Whenever we’re off the road we split.”
