NECM’s WCW Spotlight: Cassadee Pope

We, at New England Country Music, are continuing our series spotlighting women in country music. While the acronym WCW, standing for ‘Women Crush Wednesday,’ is often used for physical attraction, that is not the case here. This series will feature talented women who are crushing it in the country music scene.

For our sixth installment of WCW, we’re introducing you to Cassadee Pope. The twenty-nine-year old grew up in sunny, warm Wellington, Florida. Though like many of our WCW spotlight’s, she is currently living in Nashville with her adorable black and white French Bulldog, Cuppy. Her love of music began in high school, where she started her first band. In 2008, she was the lead vocalist of ‘Hey Monday,’ a five-member punk/rock band. Throughout their time together, the band released three EPs and one full-length album. After a three year run with ‘Hey Monday,’ she left the group and began to pursue music as a solo artist. In the spring of 2012, Pope released a four-track EP, ‘Cassadee Pope.’ She ended that year on a high note by winning Season Three of NBC’s hit show ‘The Voice.’

Pope went on to sign with Republic Nashville. It was here, in October of 2013, that she released her first full-length country album, ‘Frame by Frame.’ This record went on to sell 43,000 copies during its first week. ‘Frame by Frame’ hit Number 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums Chart. The lead single, ‘Wasting All These Tears,’ sold 125,000 copies during it’s first week and won Breakthrough Video of the Year at the 2014 CMT Music Awards. In 2015 she went on to release another single, ‘I Am Invincible.’ In 2016, her duet with Chris Young, ‘Think of You,’ reached Number 1 on the US Country Airplay Chart and received a GRAMMY nomination for Best Country Duo/Group Performance. In March of 2018, after a two-year hiatus, Pope released a single, ‘Take You Home.’ And five months later, she released a second single ‘One More Red Light.’ She has been quite busy over the years, getting to tour with Dierks Bentley, Rascal Flatts, Tim McGraw, and of course Chris Young.

When she’s not on tour, Cassadee Pope enjoys spending time with her adorable pup. A true dog-lover, Pope even created an Instagram page just for her cherished Cuppy. If you follow her social media, you’ll see her sharing not only pics of her pooch, but also some of her favorite guy pal, British actor and musician, Sam Palladio.

We’re looking forward to this WCW coming to New England next month. She will be on the CMT Next Women of Country Tour with Clare Dunn and Hannah Ellis. The trio will be stopping at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston, MA on Thursday April 25th. Best news yet is that tickets are still available for purchase here.

Be sure to download ‘One More Red Light’ on iTunes.

You can stay connected with Cassadee Pope by following her on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
