Stadium concerts have become an annual thing. Kenny Chesney is arguably the artist that made stadium concerts cool as he sells out NFL and MLB stadiums across the country nearly every year. And when artists like Chesney return to the same venues year after year, relationships get formed. The professional banter between artist and venues becomes friendship. And that seems to be exactly what has happened with country music’ hottest band, Old Dominion, and the Kraft Family and Gillette Stadium staff.
2017 will be the THIRD consecutive year that Old Dominion has played at Gillette Stadium. Now, it’s one thing for a global superstar like Kenny Chesney to accomplish such a feat. But we can’t think of a supporting act that played at Gillette Stadium for three consecutive years. Because of this, the band has formed great relationships with the Kraft Family and the Gillette Stadium staff.
In December 2015, the band took over Gillette’s social media for a Q&A style chat with friends using the hashtag #AskOD. Last summer, Old Dominion took over Gillette’s SnapChat before and during the concert with Chesney. And yes, we know this happens often for promotional purposes. But this band has truly become a member of the Patriots family. They each have their own custom Patriots jerseys (we’re still a bit jealous) and this weekend they’ve been asked to do something pretty special.
The Patriots invited the band to play their post-game party in Houston, Texas. Now, let’s hope this party is going to be a huge celebration after a Patriots win. But either way, it’s a huge honor. We’d love to see the band rock the party with Tom Brady jumping around like Matthew Ramsey to ‘Can’t Get You.’ Ramsey recently told the crowd at the Mullins Center at UMass during their stop on Miranda Lambert’s Highway Vagabond Tour that the band would be flying to Houston this morning to play the party. And earlier this morning, the band posted this video on Instagram. Their tour buses pulled onto an airstrip next to a private jet… Looks like they’re traveling in style to get their in plenty of time with their gear.

We’ve always said that Kenny Chesney is New England’s adopted son. But it appears that Old Dominion has joined KC and is the newest honorary member of the New England Patriots family. Not many artists get the distinct opportunity to play the Patriots’ post Super Bowl party. Win or lose, it’s quite the honor for Old Dominion.
You could say they’ve officially achieved “baller status.”
