Country Music’s Ice Bucket Challenges

If you look at your Facebook feed, you may see one thing more than anything else: the Ice Bucket Challenge. While the Ice Bucket Challenge isn’t necessarily a new thing, it has become one of the biggest trends in years and all because of the friends and family of Pete Frates. If you don’t know or know about Pete, he is a 29 year old man from Beverly, MA and a star athlete at both St. John’s Prep and Boston College. In 2012, Pete was diagnosed with ALS, otherwise known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Since then, he has lost his ability to speak, walk, and other typical body functions but he has the love and support of his wife, family, and thousands of friends and strangers to help him with everything that he needs.

Last year, the House of Blues in Boston hosted a concert to benefit Pete’s foundation, the Pete Frates #3 Fund, that featured Joe Nichols headlining with Chase Rice and Sam Hunt as opening acts. To further raise awareness and also donations to ALS research, the Ice Bucket Challenge started and it has taken the world by storm. Thousands of people have taken the challenge including Presidents, athletes, actors, and musicians. Considering the challenge began in New England, we have found some of our favorite Ice Bucket Challenge videos from some of our favorite country musicians. There are more out there, these are just some of them. Check them out and please consider donating to ALS research. You can help by visiting www.petefrates.com or www.alsa.org.

Oh, and for those of you who saying that pouring a bucket of ice water over your head doesn’t do anything, donations over the last few weeks are over $20,000,000!

Garth Brooks was nominated by a number of people including FGL and the Zac Brown Band.

We were one of the many who nominated Luke Bryan!

Darius Rucker

Chase Rice did the challenge twice! Here is one of his videos which is quite entertaining.

We were one of the people who challenged Tim McGraw, glad to see he did it!

And Tim had to get his wife, Faith Hill, involved.

Eric Church went big with this one.

Miranda Lambert and Thomas Rhett are touring together so they did the challenge together.

The entire Zac Brown Band did their challenge at Meadowbrook after their show in Gilford, NH!

Rascal Flatts brought their Ice Bucket Challenge to San Diego.

We love Hunter Hayes’ Ice Bucket Challenge, especially getting the fans involved.

Brett Eldredge completed his challenge in Hartford with Broadway from Country 92.5 helping pour the water on him!

Love seeing the Aussie, Keith Urban, do the challenge.
