When we woke up yesterday morning, the last thing we ever expected to hear was of a mass shooting at a country music festival. The Route 91 Harvest Festival is one of the largest country music festivals in the country. With artists such as Eric Church, Sam Hunt, Jason Aldean, Jake Owen and many more taking the stage this year in Las Vegas. Concerts are a way for fans to escape the world- leave all their worries and problems at the gates when they scan their tickets to drown themselves in the music of their favorite artists. Over 22,000 fans had done just that in Las Vegas. Just a few songs into Jason Aldean’s set, a deranged individual fired shots from his hotel room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel into that crowd of 22,000.
Fans and artists and staff ran for their lives. But in the end, lives were lost and even more were injured.
Below is some of the reactions and words and prayers from members of the country music community following the events that took place.
Praying for everyone here in Vegas. I witnessed the most unimaginable event tonight. We are okay. Others arent. Please pray.
