CMT on Tour: Up in Smoke Stops in New England This Weekend

A picture was tweeted out Thursday afternoon of Kip Moore fist pumping a sold out crowd, with a quote from Kip. “I have people all the time telling me how much my music means to them, but they have no idea of how much they mean to me.”  The heartfelt message from the star comes on the verge of Kip Moore coming to Boston and Hampton, New Hampshire this weekend for two sold out shows as part of his CMT on Tour 2014: Up in Smoke.  The tour kicked off in September and has had capacity crowds in New York, Minneapolis, Cedar Rapids, and Nashville.  Moore is in good company as a headliner for the annual CMT Tour as past headliners included Hunter Hayes (2013), Jake Owen (2012), and Luke Bryan (2011).

CMT had a wise choice in Kip Moore as a headliner as his debut album, ‘Up All Night,’ had three huge singles and was also No. 3 on the charts.  Moore knew how badly his fans wanted new music so he surprised everyone with the release of a five-song EP in September.  ‘Soundcheck’ featured four brand new live songs (and a live version of ‘Beer Money’) that will be on his upcoming ‘Smoke’ album, which is set to be out in early 2015. Moore tweeted out on Wednesday that during his stops in Detroit and Cleveland this week he was giving the crowds a first listen to the new record, and that was the only time he will do this.  That leaves everyone attending his shows this weekend anticipating what Kip will pull out for his New England fans.

Moore’s Up in Smoke Tour features Sam Hunt and Charlie Worsham as the openers.  Sam Hunt, a former college football quarterback released his debut album, ‘Montevallo,’ on October 27th and recently celebrated its first single ‘Leave The Night On’ reaching Platinum status.  ‘Montevallo’ had the biggest chart debut for any new artist in 2014.  Hunt recently announced his own 2015 headlining tour, with a stop in Boston in February.  The show, originally scheduled for the Paradise sold out so quickly that it had to be moved to the House of Blues to ensure more of his New England fan base could purchase tickets for the show.

Charlie Worsham is set to deliver songs from his ‘Rubberband’ album, which includes the hit song ‘Could It Be.’  Worsham has New England ties himself as he attended Berklee College of Music. Charlie spent the summer opening up for Brad Paisley, and similar to Paisley, Worsham is known for his guitar skills. He is currently spending time with producer Frank Liddell (Lee Ann Womack’s husband) to try and ‘uninform himself’ from what’s on the radio. In an interview with the Tennessean, Worsham said he doesn’t want the radio to be his compass, but he wants his heart to play the role.

New England Country Music will be at the show in Boston on Friday so be sure to follow us so you can get access to interviews and recaps after the show!
