Chris Lane checks off a lot of boxes for a lot of people. Talented? Check. Funny? Check. ‘Bachelor‘ fan? Check. Now, you can add a catchy new album to that list, called ‘Girl Problems.’ It was his single, ‘Fix,’ that really made a name for Chris, a song that just recently went Number One. “I found out around 11 on Saturday night [August 6th] that it had went No. 1 on Mediabase. I found out Sunday night that it went No. 1 on Billboard.” His crew made sure a night out on the road did not go without proper celebration, with the help of current tourmates Rascal Flatts, Kelsea Ballerini, and a big cake. “I couldn’t believe it,” Lane told us. “I never imagined in a million years that something that cool would happen.” Chris Lane’s time has come, and the media is making it known. The accolades have been flowing in, such as Rolling Stone’s 10 New Country Artists You Need To Know, Young Hollywood’s Artist To Watch list, Hello! Magazine’s People You Will Be Talking About and Glamour’s Music We Love, but we’ll let you be the one to judge.
With a little hope and a push from country radio, ‘Fix’ was introduced to Lane’s fans and it skyrocketed to the top. “I’ve never had people showing up to shows before where they’re singing every single song on the top of their lungs. It’s one of those things now where I can just hold the microphone out and that’s been the coolest part about it, is just letting the people take over.” Chances are, you have heard ‘Fix’ while driving in the car, and chances are you have sung on the top of your lungs to it. One of those people singing along, is none other than Selena Gomez. You could almost hear the smile from Chris, as he explained what a neat shout out it was to hear Selena say publicly that ‘Fix’ is her favorite song. “I’m such a huge fan of hers so the fact that she said that was really cool for me.”
The time finally came on August 5th for Chris Lane fans to hear his full album, ‘Girl Problems,’ and the result has been nothing but positive thus far. “It’s been great to see people jamming out on Snap Chat or Instagram or Twitter, to see them say ‘this song is life’ or whatever it may be.” Fans can expect to hear a little bit of the same vibe as ‘Fix.’ Chris explained that because people were into that, he kept with the falsetto throughout the album. Another reason the SnapChat afficianado has become a household name is because of the artists he opens for. Being able to “learn from people who are doing it at the highest level and have been for so long” gives him the opportunity to watch and take notes, which he does every show. The most important thing he has taken out of these opportunities to grow is that “they don’t take themselves too seriously. I’m one who is kind of the same way, but to see people at the highest level out there having fun and cutting up and joking, I love that.”
His time on tour with Rascal Flatts and Kelsea will be ending in September, but will quickly pick up again as he joins Florida Georgia Line. What has been a great 2016 for Chris Lane, will continue to be a record breaker. “It’s gonna be a good year.”
