Brooke Eden’s ‘Welcome To The Weekend’ EP Review

Brooke Eden’s EP, ‘Welcome To The Weekend,’ is a fresh, new sound being added to the country genre. Her vocals are beyond powerful and her pitches have you questioning how she can hit them so effortlessly. The four songs on the EP are extremely relatable to girls everywhere and her voice will have boys falling in love with her just off what they hear (not to mention she is quite beautiful, too).

1) ‘Diamonds’ – Written by Brooke Eden, Chris DeStefano, and Brett James
Impression: Brooke opens up her EP strong with this song. With its catchy beat and easily learned lyrics, it will have you singing it and humming to it after one listen! Her vocals sound fresh and are shown off throughout this song. The melody has a bit of a rocker feel to it with the hard guitars and drums. The song itself is about girls going out on the town and having a great time. You may not be famous, rich or living the most lavish life; but no matter what you and your girls will “shine like diamonds.” This is probably the best song, and my personal favorite, on the EP.
Favorite Lyric: All the boys are watching us right now, welcome to the weekend, everybody’s drinkin’, everybody’s here to throw it down!

2) ‘Act Like You Don’t’ – Written by Brooke Eden, Cary Barlowe, and Jesse Frasure
Impression: With a country pop tempo, ‘Act Like You Don’t’ puts a twist on your typical heartbreak song. This song deals with a couple whom after being broken up still manage to find their way back to each other, whether it be out at a bar or in each other’s bed by the end of the night because they’re lonely. However, the two know that they aren’t good for each other. Once again Brooke’s vocals are strong and consuming.
Favorite Lyric: Your memory is haunting me, yeah we try real hard but we’re better apart, we’re not what we need…

3) ‘Silence Speaks’ – Written by Brooke Eden, Ingrid Andress, and Will Weatherly
Impression: To follow suit with the theme of love, breakups and girl power; this song is the breakup song of the project. With another upbeat tempo, it keeps the listener’s attention. By not using the slower tempos in her EP, it helps promote her ability to show off her vocals but also keep a twist on the typical love songs played today. This song teaches you how NOT to act during a breakup. Brooke says that she could be a crazy ex-girlfriend and “call up your new girl” or “carve my name into the side of your car” but instead she just remains quiet and lets whatever happen, happen.
Favorite Lyric: I don’t need words when silence speaks louder than ‘I hate you, I never wanna see you again’

4) ‘Sunday Mornin’’ – Written by Brooke Eden and Justin Wilson.
Impression: The final song on the EP closes it out the way it started – with a rocker tone that contains a slammin’ guitar intro. Be sure to check out the guitar solo at 1:58, too! The song is about not being a one night stand kind of girl. If she’s going to be “your saturday night” then she wants to be “your sunday morning” too. A very defiant song for women everywhere and good message to convey and she does so with a touch of sass.
Favorite Lyric: Boys like you don’t know girls like me…

If you like artists like Kelsea Ballerini, Cassadee Pope or Lauren Alaina; then Brooke Eden will be right up your alley! She has similarities to these artists but also is unique with her style. She incorporates country rock and pop a lot during her EP and it brings our her versatility. She has strong and powerful vocals with great instrumentals to back up the lyrics.
