Brett Young has released three consecutive Number One hits from his self-titled debut studio album and he is looking to continue that success with his newest release off the album, titled ‘Mercy.’ The song is the perfect ballad- Young’s vocals accompanied by a simple piano and guitar. Given the success of Brett Young’s other singles don’t be surprised to see this song climbing the country music charts very soon. The song was released to country radio on February 20, 2018, and was the most added song to country radio that week!
Heartbreaks are painful and difficult to get over, especially when the person who broke your heart continues to call and string you along. The ballad ‘Mercy’ is the heartbroken plea to be allowed to move on from the broken relationship. The song’s simple beat puts the focus on Young’s incredible vocals that pull at your heart. For those who’ve experienced this kind of heartbreak there’s nothing worse than having the one who broke your heart call you up because they are drunk and lonely. All anyone one with a broken heart wants is to be left alone by the person who did the breaking and Young’s lyrics vocalize that plea, If you go out tonight and get drunk and lonely. Wind up home alone. Please don’t call me. And say you miss me. No. The song is perfect to listen to when trying to get over a heartbreak because it tells you that you’re not alone in feeling the pain of a broken heart.
“‘Mercy’ is the new single because of the amazing fan response. It’s the feeling you get when someone breaks your heart but won’t let you move on. ‘Mercy’ is a plea to rip the Band-Aid off, and many people can relate to that.” In addition to releasing this new single to country radio, Young also announced on Monday, February 26, that he proposed to his girlfriend Taylor Mills. The couple have been dating off-and-on for the past ten years. Young confessed that much of his debut studio album is about Mills, so perhaps Mills did have ‘Mercy’ on Young.
Young has already had a busy 2018 and it looks like he isn’t going to slow down anytime soon. In an interview with HollywoodLife on January 24, 2018, Young talked about his plans for the upcoming year, “I’m working on a new album that’ll come out later this year, and I’m going to be out on the road with Thomas Rhett and have some other fun things in store!” Given the success of Young’s first album we can be sure that there will be much more success in Brett Young’s future.
Brett Young co-wrote ‘Mercy’ with singer-songwriter, Sean McConnell.
This year, Brett Young will be a part of the Life Changes Tour with Thomas Rhett and Midland. The tour will be in Bangor, ME at the Cross Insurance Center on 9/13 and in Manchester, NH at the SNHU Arena on 9/20.
