As we all know, Kenny Chesney decided after his No Shoes Nation Tour ended, that he would take 2014 off and focus on creating a really good album. After teasing the world with a 30 second clip, Kenny released the full version of the first single off his new album late last week, titled American Kids. Listening to this song, I don’t think Kenny has had a hit like this in years. Sure, Pirate Flag and Rockstar were great hits, over the past couple years, but I truly don’t think either will live up to the popularity that ‘American Kids’ will end up having. The sound, melody, and lyrics of ‘American Kids’ will resonate of people young and old.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Kenny was been sitting at his home in the Virgin Islands, cold Corona in hand, watching the award shows and craving to get back on stage to accept an award for the first time since 2009, and for a country-specific awards since 2008. And considering he created a full album since his tour ended and scrapped the whole thing, he has never been so serious about creating the perfect album for his fans.
If ‘American Kids’ is an indication of Kenny’s new album, I think we are all in for a great treat and one of the best albums of the year.
