Five Questions with Logan Mize

In the midst of a radio tour, Logan Mize teamed up with Country 102.5 and Loretta’s Last Call for WKLB’s Studio Series.  Logan has been named to multiple lists of country artist to watch this coming year after joining the Sony Music Nashville family signing with Arista Nashville in October after being an independent artist for the past ten years.  His current single, ‘Can’t Get Away From a Good Time’ is set to impact country radio on January 19, 2015.  Logan took the time after his set to answer a series of rapid fire questions.

You were named  to several lists including Billboard, Spotify, and The Huffington post as a country artist to watch this year, how does that feel?

LM: “It’s flattering, I moved to Nashville from Kansas because I didn’t know what else I was going to do with my life besides write songs, so the fact that people are recognizing it nine years after I’ve been in Nashville, it’s really cool. I’m very appreciative.”

What has the response to ‘Can’t Get Away from A Good Time’ been like?

LM: “Good, I think.  I’m glad people are digging it. It’s always good to get a good crowd reaction so it’s awesome. It’s all positive.”

Logan Mize with Christina

You signed a record deal with Sony Music Nashville in October, the Sony family has a great roster, do you feel that’s a compliment to you as an artist?

LM: “Yeah, when I get on the website and see Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood, Garth Brooks, Miranda Lambert, and then Logan Mize, it’s like ‘what!?’ it doesn’t seem real. I have a lot of ground to cover but it’s really cool to be mentioned in the same sentence sometimes.”

Sirius XM The Highway is big on promoting new/independent artists, how much have they helped in the promotion of your music?

LM: “They’ve been huge. I was independent for years but I wasn’t selling near the numbers I have with XM, they picked a song that they liked which was Used Up and then I sold, I’m not sure what the numbers are but it’s really been a visual.  Then they took ‘Can’t Get Away From a Good Time’ and it totally changed my life with it. I wouldn’t have ever signed with Arista if it wasn’t for Sirius XM.”

What are you most looking forward to in 2015?

LM: “I’m looking forward to real shows, that’s what I’m used to doing. Lately I’ve been playing for radio stations in conference rooms but I enjoy doing live shows for people who want to come out and hear music. I’m doing this because I love playing live for people. I’m excited to get back in a routine of playing live shows.”
