5 Collaborations We’d Love to See at Gillette Stadium

Kenny Chesney is set to take over Gillette Stadium this weekend for two highly anticipated shows. Along with Chesney, country stars Miranda Lambert, Sam Hunt, and Old Dominion will also take the stage for the annual event that is often referred to as ‘Countryfest.’ Here are five collaborations we’d love to see in Foxborough this weekend. Some will definitely happen, some may happen, and some may not happen. But think of the possibilities!

5.) Sam Hunt and Matthew Ramsey Old Dominion’s leadman, Matthew Ramsey, has written a number of songs that were recorded by other artists and Sam just happens to be one of those other artists. Sam, Matthew and Josh Osborne co-wrote Hunt’s song, ‘Ex To See,’ which was on his 2014 ‘Montevallo‘ album. We’d love to see Matthew join Sam on stage to perform the single at Gillette. Is it likely to happen? Probably not. But it’s definitely possible!

4.) Kenny Chesney with Matthew Ramsey and Brad Tursi- Old Dominion toured with Chesney last summer and just days before playing at Gillette Stadium, the guys told NECM that Kenny hadn’t played ‘Save It For a Rainy Day’ at all during the tour. But the morning of the first show at Gillette Stadium, Kenny approached Matthew at breakfast and told him to be ready as he was not only going to perform the song, that Matthew and Brad co-wrote (with Andrew Dorff), in Foxborough but also that he wanted them to join him on stage to perform it. This has happened on every stop since, including at Mohegan Sun earlier this year. Expect it to happen again this weekend.

3.) Kenny Chesney with Miranda Lambert- Expect this to happen. ‘You and Tequila’ is one of our personal favorites in Chesney’s collection and it’s always a perk to have that female voice to join him. We were treated to Grace Potter a few years ago. And with Miranda Lambert on the stadium dates for the 2016 tour, fans have been treated to this collaboration all summer. That won’t change in Foxborough- Miranda WILL join Kenny on stage for ‘You and Tequila,’ and we cannot wait to hear them sing together!

2.) Kenny Chesney with Sam Hunt- Maybe you know it, maybe you don’t. Sam co-wrote ‘Come Over,’ a song that Chesney cut and released in May of 2012. It was Sam’s first big cut as it was certified Platinum by the RIAA. The song has always been an epic singalong at Gillette Stadium and ranks highly as one of our favorite Chesney-Gillette moments from a few years ago. Chesney hasn’t been playing the song often this year but we see that changing this weekend with his end of tour shows. And when Chesney has played the song, Sam has joined him on stage, as he did in Phoenix and Auburn, Alabama earlier this year.

1.) Kenny Chesney with Pink- This one is the longest of long-shots. But if Kenny Chesney wanted to end his tour in grand style, as he usually does, this would be the way to do it. The duo released a single together, ‘Setting The World On Fire,’ earlier this month. And the song immediately resonated with fans as it skyrocketed to Number Two on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Pink does not have any tour dates this weekend, so she is available. And we know the Gillette Stadium crowd would go CRAZY if she showed up in Foxborough to sing ‘Setting The World On Fire’ with Chesney. It would be one helluva way for Chesney to end the tour before he heads down to the Virgin Islands for his winter retreat.

See y’all in Foxborough this weekend!
